Volkswagen Transporter with double cab

The Volkswagen Transporter is a van that has been produced since 1950. Subsequent generations followed, with us featuring the T6 and T6.1 with a double cab. The Volkswagen Transporter 6 came into existence in 2015 and received a facelift four years later, and has since been known as the Volkswagen Transporter 6.1, or T6.1.

Advantages of a double cabin in the Volkswagen Transporter

A double cabin in your Volkswagen Transporter makes your van a versatile means of transport. While the original layout focuses on the cargo space, adding an extra row of seats creates more balance. Now you can easily carry both tools and materials as well as transport multiple people.

Why choose a Volkswagen Transporter with a double cab?

A Volkswagen Transporter with a double cab simply gives you more flexibility. You can now go out with up to six people, allowing you to complete larger jobs with just one company vehicle. This might save you not only time but also money.

By using one company vehicle instead of two, you save on both fuel and maintenance and insurance costs. You also emit less CO2 and take up less space on the road and in parking spots.

Another added benefit is that with the Volkswagen Transporter with a double cab, you can easily go out with the whole family. You no longer need to cram everyone together with suitcases and bags in a passenger car, as everything and everyone fits perfectly in your converted Transporter! And you don’t need to worry about safety on the road, as everyone is securely fastened with a three-point seat belt and has a headrest to lean on.

Fiscal advantages of a double cab

As a vehicle with grey license plates, a Volkswagen Transporter with a double cab was fiscally attractive for years because you could benefit from tax advantages and a lower tax premium. Unfortunately, starting in 2025, the grey license plate regulation for entrepreneurs will be abolished. From January 1, 2025, entrepreneurs will therefore pay the full BPM (tax on passenger cars and motorcycles) when making a purchase.

A Volkswagen Transporter emits more CO2, nitrogen oxides, and particulate matter as a commercial vehicle or van compared to a passenger car. This was a reason for the government to abolish the exemption for vehicles with grey license plates starting in 2025.

From that year, BPM will be calculated based on CO2 emissions (just like for passenger cars). It amounts to 66.90 euros per gram of CO2. This quickly translates to ten to twenty thousand euros in taxes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Very fast! In most cases, you can be back on the road with your converted van within three days. How is that possible? Because we keep most parts in ample stock. Very occasionally, a part needs to be ordered, but fortunately, this is often not necessary. As a result, the conversion time and lead time can be considered very short.

Blix started in 1999 as part of ABK Kunststoffen, a manufacturer of partition walls. To further grow the process of installing double cabins in commercial vehicles, a separate company was established in 2016: Multi-Cab. This company moved from Dodewaard to Heteren at the beginning of 2019, and here not only total autonomy was achieved but also a new building and a new name: Blix Automotive.

Blix Automotive has its office and workshop in Heteren. To be precise, at Hooiland 2 in the industrial area Poort van Midden-Gelderland Zuid. Our location is near the A50, making it very easy to reach by car.
