From January 1, 2025, entrepreneurs will have to pay the full BPM (tax on passenger cars and motorcycles) upon purchase.
A Renault Trafic emits more CO2, nitrogen oxides, and particulate matter as a van or commercial vehicle than a passenger car. For the cabinet, this was the reason to abolish the exemption for vehicles with a commercial license plate from 2025.
From that year onwards, the BPM will be calculated based on CO2 emissions (just like for passenger cars). This amounts to 66.90 euros per gram of CO2. Therefore, it quickly amounts to ten to twenty thousand euros in tax.
